    The All-India Senior Women's Selection Committee on Tuesday picked the squads for India Women's upcoming tour of Australia.The series will comprise 3 ODIs, one day-night Test match, and three T20Is. Sneh Rana who gave spirited performances against England in the multi-format series earlier this year has been retained for the series against Australia. The women's team will depart for Australia from Bengaluru either on August 29 or 30 and then the entire squad will spend two weeks under mandatory quarantine.

    England pacer James Anderson has opened up about what happened between him and India players during the final session of the third day of the Lord's Test. In the second innings of the Lord's Test, Anderson was seen having an animated chat with Bumrah after the Indian pacer unleashed a barrage of bouncers at him. After that, tempers flared and both teams engaged in verbals throughout the game. 'But on Saturday at Lord's the over from Bumrah was up there for intimidation. Everyone had been saying it was a slow wicket. When I walked out to bat Joe Root was at the other end. He said when it is banged in it is quite slow so you can see it quite easily. But the first ball I faced I didn't see at all. The first I knew of it was when it hit me on the head. Bumrah had obviously picked up his pace and from then on I just wanted to get through it unscathed and stay at the crease for Joe," he added.

    Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (August 25) roped in South Africa’s left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 19. Shamsi, the world no. 1 ranked T20I bowler in ICC rankings, will be joining the Royals squad as their second replacement player. The 31-year-old from Johannesburg represented ‘The Titans’ in South Africa’s domestic cricket, and made his international debut for South Africa during a bilateral T20I series against England in 2017. The left-arm leg spinner has since picked up 45 wickets in 39 T20Is, along with 32 wickets in 27 ODIs for South Africa.

    The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could soon get richer by at least Rs 5,000 crore with the addition of two new franchises during the 2022 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL, which is currently an eight-team tournament, will become a 10-team affair from the next edition and during a recent governing council meeting, the modalities of the bidding process were chalked out. “Any company can buy the bid document paying Rs 75 crore. Earlier top brass was thinking about keeping the base price for two new teams at Rs 1700 crore but later it was decided to keep the base price at Rs 2000 crore,” a senior BCCI source told news agency PTI on the condition of anonymity.

    The Indian cricket team’s head coach Ravi Shastri and skipper Virat Kohli are unlikely to be questioned over their attending functions after the former, along with bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar, tested positive for COVID-19. “Covid-19 is something that can happen to anyone. Besides, the United Kingdom government has removed restrictions and opened movement. So, people are allowed to move freely,” said a top Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) official to news agency IANS. The trio will miss attending the fifth and final Test to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester from September 10 to 14. The lockdown in England had ended in July while India were playing the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand in Southampton.
